Sahid Anowar
Sahid is a first-generation learner and comes from Murshidabad District of West Bengal. Sahid’s father, who has partial disability, is a farmer and mother a housewife. Sahid passed his Higher Secondary examination in 2020 securing 92% marks in science with grade O (Outstanding).
Then starts a very inspiring story of Sahid about his grit and determination. After passing higher Secondary in 2020 with high marks, Sahid did not take admission in any college as he was determined to be a doctor. Next 4 successive years Sahid appeared for NEET and finally cleared NEET in 2024 and took admission in reputed Nilratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata for his MBBS.

Akash is a first-generation learner and comes from West Midnapore District of West Bengal. Akash’s father is a farmer and mother a housewife. Akash passed Secondary examination in 2026 securing 94.4% marks with overall grade AA (Outstanding). and has now taken admission in class XI in a school in his village. Akash wants to be an engineer.

Debangana comes from Hooghly District of West Bengal and now lives in Howrah. Debangana’s father, though not well, works in a factory and her mother is a housewife. Her mother runs a small grocery store from their home to make a living. Soumashree, who wants to be a Chartered Accountant is also an excellent artiste who sketches.

Rikta has been a student of Uma Guha Foundation for last 3 years and comes from Nadia District of West Bengal. She lost her father a few years back and her mother works as a support staff with a local private school to make their living. Rikta passed Secondary Examination in 2026 securing 51% marks with Grade B+ and has now taken admission in class XI in Arts stream. Rikta wants to do her higher studies in Political Science.

Khatija Khatoon
Khatija has been a part of Uma Guha Foundation family for last more than two years. She lost both her parents at an early age and is brought up by her cousin brother who is an electrician. Khatija passed Secondary Examination in 2024 from a South Kolkata school securing 60% marks with Grade- A (Very Good) and passed Higher Secondary examination in 2026 securing 74% marks with Overall Grade A (Very Good). She has now taken admission in a South Kolkata college with 4 -year Geography honours and also started her spoken English class.

Budhrai Mandi
Budhrai comes from a village in the deep forest of Belpahari, Dist Jhargram, West Bengal. Budhrai lost his father at a very young age and now his mother and brother do cultivation for their livelihood. Budhrai ranked first in his school both in secondary examination in 2023 securing 75.29% with grade A (Very Good) and in Higher Secondary Examination in 2025 securing 90% marks with grade 0 ( Outstanding) . Budhrai has now taken admission in reputed Midnapore Day College with Honours in Political Science and he wants to join administrative services.
